FAQ
Vector in the most common terminology can be defined as “drawings that can be scalable to any size without any loss in quality”.
This makes them the most suitable format for printing company logos or other objects that have to be resized frequently. The most common use for vector formats are for stationery, large banners, signs, vehicle graphics and just about almost everything that you can think of !
Mainly in the computer terminology there are two kinds of graphics that are generally used for all kinds of promotional activities. The first one is bitmaps/Bitmaps (an image or a drawing or a photo that is composed of pixels) and vector (an image or a drawing or a photo that is composed of paths). A Bitmaps image uses a grid of individual pixels where each pixel can be a different color or shade. Bitmaps images are composed of pixels. Vector graphics use mathematical relationships between points and the paths connecting them to describe an image. Vector graphics are composed of paths.
A GIS file format is a standard of encoding geographical information into a file. They are created mainly by government mapping agencies (such as the USGS) or by GIS software developers.
Metadata often includes:
Elevation data, either in Bitmaps or vector (e.g., contour lines) form Shape layers, usually expressed as line drawings, for streets, postal zone boundaries, etc. Coordinate system descriptions. One or more data describing the precise shape of the Earth assumed by the coordinates
Encapsulated PostScript, or EPS, is a DSC-conforming PostScript document with additional restrictions intended to make EPS files usable as a graphics file format. In other words, EPS files are more-or-less self-contained, reasonably predictable PostScript documents that describe an image or drawing, that can be placed within another PostScript document.

The main different between a print logo and a web logo is in the resolution of the logo. Generally print logos require a much higher resolutions and they need to saved in some standard print formats to get the best result in printing. Some of the most commonly used print format for different type of printing jobs are TIFF, EPS and AI. Whereas in the case of web logo, they require much smaller resolution because they only need to be displayed on the screen. If the web logo are used for printing the image will appear very blurred or jagged on paper.
Generally we use Adobe Illustrator for all types of vector drawing. Adobe Illustrator is industry standard for this type of conversion work. Sometimes in case of specific requirement we also use Corel Draw also.
